Moscow government announced a Program of nanotechnology development launching
21.04.2006

At the April 5 the United board of science and industrial policy of Moscow discussed the program of nanotechnology development in Moscow region.

Dr. Bykov V.A. – a president of NT-MDT Co. and a chairman of High-tech Guild made a report about the situation with nanotechnology worldwide mentioning its great demand and active application to industry now. Dr. Bykov also emphasized that according to USA National Science Fund forecast annual turnover in nano market will reach about 1 billion dollars till 2015.
Favourable conditions for effective business development of the base of nanotechnology are also created in Russia. In this concern a special nanotechnology and nanomaterial program was worked out on the 15th of December 2005 by the Russian Government.

Following the Program a series of educational and innovation centers on the base of Moscow Universities should be established. The Moscow Government decision to create a special innovation base in Zelenograd is also a significant event that can make Zelenograd the ‘‘start ground” for the development of innovative processes in nanotechnology and nanoelectronics. Answering the questions of the Board members Dr. Bykov mentioned NT-MDT effective efforts in nanotechnology support in Russia. The total sales volume of metrological, control and measuring devices reached about 10.5 mln of dollars in 2004. The sales volume of these equipment used for nanopowder control on the base of diffractometers will reach up to 21mln dollars  till 2010.
At the moment there are two departments in MSUET (Moscow State University of Electronic Technnics – and MSTU (Moscow State Technology University) whose graduate students will realize the program.

By the way NT-MDT as a main Program initiator and the company with big experience in the international collaboration can be a strong base for Program realization.

As a result of the meeting the United Board decided to arrange a working group that will finalize the project concept for nanotechnology development in the nearest future.
