The International Forum “Nano in the Scientific-Educational Sphere” was held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia on initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and RUSNANO in the end of May 2009.
NT-MDT Co. provided hands-on support in the preparation and organization of the Forum.
This event was a logical continuation of the International scientific conference “Nanotechnology Revolution 2008” held in October 2008 at the French island Porquerolles.
The Presidium of the Forum consisted of Аndrei Fursenko, the Minister of Education and Science, Аlexey Mayorov, the deputy-chairman of Khanty-Mansiysk and Ugra Autonomous Area for Education, Science and Overseas Division, Vyacheslav Safarov, the President of the International Association of the Russian-Speaking Scientists — RASA, and Victor Bykov, the President of NT-MDT Co.
The main topic of the Forum was the creation of a nanotechnology centers network in Russia, the project initiated by the Ministry of the Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Among the participant of the Forum there were Russian-speaking scientists from the worlds significant research centers (USA, the Great Britain, Germany, France, Israel, Switzerland, Belgium, Lithuania), as well as many Russian scientists from authorized institutes such as Russian Scientific Centre "Kurchatov Institute", St. Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, Institute of Biomedical Chemistry MCIA etc.
The Forum was opened by the speech of Andrei Fursenko who named the support of Russian scientists as one of the higher-priority intentions in the nanotechnology field. The problem of attracting Russian-speaking scientists from abroad to expertise of the Russian science projects was also mentioned as one of the topical problems.
During the meeting several presentation were made. RUSNANO specialists informed about perspectives of the commercialization of the nanotechnological developments and possible collaboration with the abroad diaspora in this field; the heads of the recently created nanotechnology centers reported the achievements of their laboratories; and the members of RASA mentioned their readiness for a hands-on collaboration.
NT-MDT Co. as an initiative market participant takes active steps for finding solution of the problems arose on the way of the nanotechnology centers network creating.
