Cantilevers CSC12 with rectangular beam and small force constant were used. When studying the friction forces on the heterostructure cleavage, the long side of the cantilever beam should be set parallel to the sample edge. To increase the sensitivity of mode, the signal of lateral deflection of the cantilever must be chosen close to zero. To avoid artifacts in LFM image due to coupling between vertical and lateral cantilever deflection, slow scanning speed and high feedback gain are preferable.
